  Description:\n\nThe U.S. role in the genocide in Gaza is a well-establish
 ed horror\, but it is also another example of the way that American leader
 s have always suppressed liberation movements. In looking at today’s eve
 nts with a historical context\, especially with regard to the war and deva
 station of Vietnam\, tells us a good deal about the way the U.S. views peo
 ple’s movements abroad\, how they form and evolve\, and what the outcome
 s are.\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n\nRobert Buzzanco is co-host of the Green an
 d Red Podcast\, professor emeritus of history at the University of Houston
 \, and has been a visiting professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice
 . He is the author of several books\, including the award-winning Masters
  of War: Military Dissent and Politics in the Vietnam Era (1996)\, which 
 received the Stuart L. Bernath Book and Lecture Prizes\, given by the Soci
 ety for Historians of American Foreign Relations. Professor Buzzanco speci
 alizes in\, writes about\, and talks on the Vietnam War era\, military-civ
 ilian relations\, foreign policy\, radical social movements\, political ec
 onomy\, anti-imperialism\, and other topics in U.S. history. He has been a
  lifelong Palestine solidarity activist.\n\nThis hybrid event is free and
