  of two children. The name Rashida means "righteous" in Arabic. Rashida 
 made history by becoming the first woman of Palestinian descent to become
  a Congressperson and the first Muslim woman to ever serve in the Michigan
  Legislature.\n\nThe Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) works to pr
 otect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East thro
 ugh aid\, empowerment and education. In the Middle East\, MECA provides hu
 manitarian aid\, partners with community organizations to run projects for
  children\, and supports income-generation projects. In the US and interna
 tionally\, MECA raises awareness about the lives of children in the region
