Short Bio of the Panelists and Hosts
Jihad El Hokayem is Chief Financial Market Strategist at JHC Jupiter Horizons Consultancy. He forecasted live on TV the crash of Gold in 2013 and oil prices collapse in 2014. He was the first to publicly forecast the real estate crash and the current economic crisis in Lebanon. He is also the President of Rethinking Lebanon.
Walid Geagea obtained his BA in Business Management in 2007 at Middle East University, MBA in International Commerce in 2013, and specialized in feasibility studies, business plans, business valuations, re-structuring, and corporate financing solutions. Mr. Geagea has more than 13 years or experience among which 5 years in Qatar and the GCC providing management and financial solutions to clients. Mr. Geagea is currently the General Manager of PFC International (www.pfc-international.com), the CEO of Cedria Engineering Middle East (www.cedria-eng.com), and the General Manager of TSA&Partners (www.tsa-qatar.com) companies.
Joelle Akiki Barkanian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance both from Middle East University. She is pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration at Beirut Arab University. She is currently a business lecturer and has been for the past 9 years. She is also an academic advisor for Finance students as well as serving as the Student Association Sponsor at Middle East University. Joelle is a Lebanese married to Larry of Armenian origins, and together have three children—James, Peter, and Katelyn.
Sarkis Vartanian is a 23-year-old Lebanese Armenian student studying Accounting at Middle East University. He lives in Lebanon, Beirut, where he is a full-time employee. His dream is to earn a high position at one of the big 4 accounting firms.
Dr. Carlos Biaggi is the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Associate Professor of Management and Accounting, and Academic Advisor of the MBA program. He hails from Argentina and brings 18 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector and academia in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, the Philippines, and Lebanon. He is a CPA in his country, holds an MBA from Universidad Autónoma de Asunción, and a PhD in Business from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies. Carlos is passionate about utilizing the latest technologies in business in a context of integrity and ethics. He lives in Lebanon with his wife Silvana and their two children, Giuliana and Giovanni. His research areas are business ethics, spirituality in business, strategy, human resources management, and qualitative research. Carlos serves as reviewer of the Asian Qualitative Research Association; International Forum; and the Journal of Management, Spirituality & Religion.
