DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception of Rania Matar's photographic
  love letter to the women of Lebanon: Where Do I Go? لوينروح\n\nWhe
 re Do I Go? لوينروح is Rania Matar’s photographic love letter to 
 the women of Lebanon.\n\n2025 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Leban
 ese Civil War. As the country and its people reckoned with the legacy of i
 ts past\, they also confronted the struggles of the present— economic in
 stability\, lingering reminders of the pandemic\, undue violence across th
 e region\, and for many\, the enduring pain of the Beirut Port Explosion. 
 The precarity has led many to emigrate elsewhere.\n\nThrough it all\, Mata
 r has found hope and inspiration in Lebanon’s young women. Having left L
 ebanon during the Civil War in 1984\, she knows well the difficult decisio
 n of whether to leave or to stay.\n\nHer arresting portraits affirm the pr
 esence\, strength\, and resilience of her subjects. Whether situated in an
  abandoned building or within the country’s natural landscape\, history\
 , place\, and identity become one in her images. The women’s presence ex
 udes out of the frame\, claiming space— asking their audience to look at
  them\, and to answer Where Do I Go?\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOn Thursday\, April 9th
  from 6-8PM join us at the Leica Gallery Boston to celebrate Matar's impor
 tant body of work. Light food and drinks will be provided. Copies of the a
 rtists new monograph will be available for purchase. This exhibition is be
 ing mounted in collaboration with Robert Klein Gallery.
