Beginning with the 1956 war and ending with the Al Aqsa Intifada of 2000, Dr. Jenab Tutunji will provide a historical examination of events that looks at Israel’s justifications for war that have impeded peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The picture that emerges is that the Israeli governments’ claim to moral righteousness in each and every case has provided legitimization of the political and social order in Israel, but has scapegoated Arabs and alienated Israelis from Palestinians, perhaps beyond repair. The Israeli “military cultural complex” has played a significant role in this process.
