 \nPresenting\n\nZikrayat featuring Mariyah\n\nAbout Zikrayat\n\nFounded in
  2006 by Arab violinist\, Sami Abu Shumays and dancer Robin Dameshe Shumay
 s\, Zikrayat quickly became the foremost representative of Egyptian music 
 and dance in New York\, specializing in repertory from the "Golden Age" of
  Egyptian movie musicals (the 1940's-60's).\n\nZikrayat has performed at L
 incoln Center\, Joe's Pub\, City University of New York’s Elebash Hall\,
  the American Folk Festival\, the Lowell Folk Festival\, and the Global Fi
 lm &amp\; Music festival at William and Mary\, the Metropolitan Museum of 
 Art\, Alwan for the Arts\, Drom\, and many other venues.\n\nMusical direct
 or Sami Shumays teaches classes and workshops on Arabic music across the c
 ountry\, in person and remotely. He has given lectures at Yale University\
 , Wesleyan University\, The New School\, and William &amp\; Mary. He has a
 lso developed unique online resources to teach Arabic music at www.maqaml
 essons.com and is co-author of the book Inside Arabic Music with Johnny F
 arraj.\n\nAbout Mariyah\n\nMariyah is a bellydancer\, choreographer and in
 structor based in NYC. Distinguished by her graceful and evocative dance s
 tyle\, she is highly regarded as a leading dance artist in the New York ar
 ea. In 2008\, Mariyah began dancing with NYC’s premier Arabic music and 
 dance ensemble Zikrayat and began choreographing and dance directing for
  the group in 2010. She has performed with the ensemble at numerous cultur
 al and theater events\, including the prestigious Lincoln Center Out of D
 oors festival in New York\, NY.\n\nZikrayat Performers\n\n 	Sami Abu-Shum
