Arab America’s Hopes for 2024 – New Year’s Resolutions

posted on: Jan 3, 2024

As we step into the new year, Arab America would like to announce its hopes and resolutions for the New Year. Carrying from the progress of the past as well as tackling international woes in the Arab region, Arab America has hope for a prosperous, peaceful, and progress-filled 2024.

Peace in Palestine

First and foremost, Arab America hopes and prays for peace in Palestine. Arab America will continue to cover the war in Gaza as well as express its solidarity with the innocent civilians in the affected regions. Leaders within the Arab America organization will continue to lobby for a ceasefire in Gaza and continued peace efforts in the Middle East. While this may be a lofty goal amidst the current state of affairs, Arab America must prevail in seeking peace in Palestine by any means.

Pride in Our Heritage

Arab America hopes to emanate and promote pride in Arab heritage and culture. Arab culture is one of a kind, a compilation of diverse and rich traditions and customs. From our articles to our events to our social media posts, we aim to highlight every dimension of our vast culture to the public.

The war in Gaza has caused international fear in the Arab community, causing individuals to dilute the physical expression of their heritage. We hope to see more Arab Americans proudly showcase their Arab identity from the stylish clothes they wear to the aromatic food they make.

The Arab American narrative is what we make of it as a community, therefore, we must come together and unequivocally express our identities.

Building Coalitions with Organizations

In the summer and fall of 2023, Arab America Foundation co-founders, Warren and and Dr. Amal David traveled throughout the United States to connect with Arab Americans across 20+ cities. Arab America’s Healing Together series also virtually brought together Arab Americans at the height of the escalation of the war in Gaza.  In the upcoming year, our primary goal is to foster collaborations with external organizations, aiming to broaden and strengthen our network of Arab Americans. We envision meaningful connections with individuals across a diverse spectrum of organizations, including those dedicated to art, music, literature, politics, and various other fields. We intend to create a unified and inclusive platform that amplifies the diverse voices and contributions of Arab Americans in various facets of society.

Arab Optimism

The Arab World region has been plagued with wars and violent woes, leaving the Arab American diaspora with an omnipresent sense of pessimism for the future of Arab nations. From political instability to violent invasions to systemic corruption, there is little hope for a better for a better future.

However, we must have hope. As we enter the new year, we must be proud of Arab nations’ cutting-edge advancements in technology and growing attention to socioeconomic issues. We must also actively advocate for the liberation of those who are enduring tragedy, strife, and violence.
