Join us for an immersive weekend of Arabic Calligraphy!

For hundreds of years, people, regardless of their background, have been attracted and moved by the art of Arabic calligraphy. Whether you are an apsiring calligraphy student, a beginner or never have held a reed pen, we coordially invite you to join us for a two day calligraphy retreat with the master calligrapher, Dr. Nihad Dukhan. Dr. Dukhan is part of calligraphy lineage which is nearly seven hundred years old and now trains interested students. Join us for a meditative weekend with other aspirants seeking beauty and peace .

All resources included at the session. Booking is required. Registration is limited, so book soon!

(Sunday afternoon will include a salon-style gathering featuring other master calligraphers such as Hoja Mohamed Zakariya and Bosnian master calligrapher Hoja Cazim Hadzimejlic)

Nihad Dukhan

Nihad Dukhan is a Palestinian-American master of Arabic calligraphy. He is also a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan. He studied with the noted Istanbul grandmaster calligrapher Hasan Çelebi (pronounced Chalabi) in thuluth and nesih styles and received his ijazah (master of calligraphy degree) in 2009 after 11 years of study. He also studied taliq style with master calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya and received his ijazah in this script in 2013. Between 2013 and 2015, Dukhan relocated to Istanbul where he received advanced training under the guidance of master calligrapher Davut Bektas in jaly thuluth style.
