Iraqi Children Foundation: "In Their Shoes" 5k

posted on: May 9, 2015

In one of the most unique events of its kind, the Iraqi Children Foundation’s May 9 “IN THEIR SHOES” 5K will bring together – under one umbrella – various communities affected by the Iraq war. It will include Iraq war veterans who are running not for their colleagues but for Iraqi children deeply affected by the war. It will include Gold Star mothers and family of Americans who died in Iraq and who, for one day, are running with compassion for children in Iraq who also lost parents and loved ones.   It will include Iraqi-Americans and expatriates who lost family and friends back home but now are showing up to support the children of the thousands of Iraqis who were affected by a decade of war (and now ISIS). And it includes Iraqi and American dignitaries who have shouldered the responsibilities of leading during times of war and violence.
