80-year-old Palestinian American, Omar Abdalmajeed As’as, a successful Milwaukee grocer, was detained by Israeli soldiers near his West Bank village, where he’d retired to. He died while either in custody or just after being released. The Israeli plan to construct over 3,000 new housing units in several settler communities, some of which are deep in occupied territory on the West Bank, is a slap in the face to the Biden administration, Palestinians themselves, anti-occupation Israelis, the EU, UN and Arab countries. This plan makes it that much more difficult to settle the continuing conflict between Israel and Palestine and significantly dims the chances of creating a state of Palestine in the West Bank and Gaza.
