The comedy darling and her family, along with their beloved neighbors, will undoubtedly find themselves in a new world of trouble as they continue their attempt to navigate life in America, humanizing the Arab experience through an all-new rendition of their show, “Me No Terrorist”. This latest installment follows the gang in a post 9/11 world, where a chance encounter with the authorities, finds ‘Im Hussein’ tangled up in an all-new adventure, adding a humorous spin to some real-life issues.
The brainchild of Mr. Najee Mondalek, ‘Im Hussein’, is the hilariously witty central figure in the wildly successful stage comedy performed by the talents of the AJYAL Theatrical Group. Mondalek’s lost-in-translation approach, coupled with ‘Im Hussein’s’ razor-sharp tongue and undeniable charm has helped make her a household name amongst Arab-Americans and stage lovers nationwide.
“For me, ‘Im Hussein’ was a way to express myself beyond politics and social issues, I wanted the character to transcend what we believe to be funny in a way that spoke to people who can relate to the immigrant experience. She’s sort of a parody of ‘Lucille Ball’, with a very ethnic flair,” said Mondalek, Producer and CEO of AJYAL Theatrical Group.
