In conjunction with Google, HP, and UNICEF, the Clooney Foundation announced a plan to increase access to education for thousands of children in Lebanon, in the form of seven public schools for Syrian refugees.

Actor Clooney and his wife, Amal, announced that they had dedicated over $2,000,000 to their new project in an attempt to prevent the Syrian refugee community from becoming what they coined “a lost generation.”

In a written statement, Clooney and his wife proclaimed that “they (the Syrian refugee children) have been victims of geography and circumstance, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t hope. Our goal with this initiative is to help provide Syrian refugee children with an education and put them on a path to be the future leaders their generation desperately needs.”

Established last year to promote global equality in education and justice, the Clooney Foundation received praise from UNICEF, which proclaimed that the organization is “investing in the future of the entire region.”
