CONNECT Arab America 2021: Day 1—Connecting with Public Officials

The Connect Arab America: Empowerment Summit is a week-long virtual conference that will run Feb 1-5 with a different panel each day.

Arab Americans are becoming more active politically in municipal, regional, state, and all levels of politics. On Day 1 of the Connect Arab America: Empowerment Summit you will meet some of the public officials that are making a difference in their respective communities. Connect Arab America will take place Feb. 1-5, 2021 from 7-8 pm ET. Celebrate Arab American unity, heritage, and identity with discussions from exciting speakers in public service, cultural institutions, business innovators, influencers, and exciting artists.  (Register Here)

Meet the Panelists

Ghida Fakhry | Moderator

Journalist/Presenter Ghida Fakhry

This panel will be moderated by Lebanese broadcast journalist, Ghida Fakhry. Formerly New York Bureau Chief for Al Jazeera, Fakhry is a current affairs program presenter with TRT World, and a moderator for Doha Debates based in Washington, DC. Rashida Tlaib | Congresswoman

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib

Fayrouz Saad (LEO) | Executive Director of Global Michigan

Fayrouz Saad, Director of Global Michigan, State of Michigan

Fayrouz Saad is the Executive Director of Global Michigan and a member of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Cabinet. She also advises the Governor on federal and state immigration policies. Sam Rasoul | Member, Virginia House of Delegates

The child of immigrants from Palestine, Sam Rasoul has been serving Virginians as the delegate from Roanoke since he was first elected in 2014. Abraham Aiyash | Michigan State Representative, 4th House District

Mike Khader | City Council President (Yonkers, NY)

A true product of the American dream, Mike’s parents came to America as immigrants with nothing but the hope that their children would work hard, get educated, and give back to the country that welcomed them with open arms.
