Join Emel Mathlouthi—Tunisian-American singer, composer, and activist— and Majlis NY for a special evening of conversation and music. Emel’s voice became iconic during the Arab Spring, when her song Kelmti Horra (“My Word Is Free”) echoed through the streets of Tunis and beyond, becoming a revolutionary anthem. Blending classical Arabic sounds with electronica, rock, and experimental textures, her work has been hailed for its emotional power, political depth, and sonic innovation. Her latest album, MRA, is a bold celebration of female creativity, made entirely in collaboration with women.

The evening will close with a short, intimate performance by Emel.

Majlis NY is a gathering space for artists, thinkers, and community rooted in the Arab world and its diaspora. Through intimate talks, performances, and collective reflection, Majlis centers culture as a living, breathing force of resistance, memory, and imagination.
