A collection of short films from Palestine/Lebanon followed by Live piano performance by Sharon Park

Join us for an evening of short films by Palestinian and Lebanese filmmakers that tell the stories of ordinary people living everyday life, as the shadow of war and conflict lingers in the background. These films explore memory, family, humor, love, and longing through moments that reveal the resilience and the tenderness of daily life.

About the Films:

  • Siri Miri by Luay Awwad  [West Bank]: Sick of their routine-run life, two millennials turn to the help of “Siri”, a virtual assistant, in order to spice up their monotonous life, only to find out that Siri is oblivious to the unique situation they live in.
  • 10 Minutes Younger by Nisreen Yaseen [West Bank]: Two kids on the edge of adolescence slip away from political noise and social pressure in Palestine, finding brief freedom in nature. An escape that lingers like a dream.
  • Borekas by Saleh Saadi  [48 Palestine]: A breakdown on the way to the airport provides a father and son with an opportunity to reconnect.

About the Piano Performance: RAN PARK is a musician, composer, and activist living in Occupied Duwamish Territory. A believer in internal transformation as the necessary precursor to social transformation, Ran draws on music’s vast potential to facilitate microshifts within ourselves and across communities. Ran will be playing a small selection of songs that together, embrace the fullness of life – its complexities, wonders, challenges, and joys.

Ran will also present photographs of Ahmed Al Da’alsa, a young artist in Gaza. They have been in contact for about half a year now, and Ran has been facilitating print sales of his photography on his behalf.

Location: ANTiPODE Art Gallery 103 S. Main Street, Seattle

Vibe: Let’s get together at 6:00pm, watch the movies, and stay for live music performance and hang.

Payment: We offer two different ticket options: $25 to support this event only and $50 to enable us host similar events in future. Please choose the one that best matches your financial capacity and the level at which you’d like to support ANTiPODE mission.
