As part of the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center Library Lecture Series, this lecture will present historical perspectives on the Ottoman Empire’s presence in Europe and its wider significance in regional and global history. Drawing on Dr. Gabor Agoston’s research and publication, the lecture will reflect on political, military, and cultural dimensions of this period, while highlighting historical connections and exchanges that influenced the broader region.

Dr. Gabor Agoston is a Professor of History at Georgetown University and a distinguished specialist in Ottoman history, Ottoman-European relations, and military history. He is the author of The Last Muslim Conquest: The Ottoman Empire and Its Wars in Europe. His research has contributed meaningfully to the study of the Ottoman world and its place within broader historical narratives.
