For many, Nevada is home because we were born here. But for refugees, Nevada becomes home because they’re forced to flee hostile occupation, religious persecution or the complete destruction of their former lives. In honor of World Refugee Day (June 20), an international day of recognition for refugees across the globe orchestrated by the United Nations, NNIC invites the public to Miguel Ribera Park on Sunday, June 23 to celebrate and highlight the cultures of those making Nevada their new home while also giving these new residents resources and ideas for better integrating to life in northern Nevada. Join as a sponsor so that we can connect refugees with support and come together as neighbors, friends and Nevadans.
