Golf Outing Will Support Arab American, Chaldean Scholarships
The Arab American and Chaldean Council, a nonprofit human service organization serving southeastern Michigan, has announced its 11th Annual ACC Scholarship Program, benefiting high school seniors of Arab/Chaldean descent.
The ACC will award scholarships to deserving high school seniors who complete an application that includes criteria such as submitting a transcript, two letters of recommendation and writing an essay. The applications are due May 3. Scholarship applications are available at www.myacc.org. Last year, 20 scholarships totaling $20,000 were provided to southeast Michigan students.
“Education is a fundamental part of a youth’s social and personal development,” said Haifa Fakhouri, president, ACC. “The ACC is proud to financially assist graduating high school students as they pursue their education.”
The ACC Scholarship Awards Program is based on academic excellence and financial need.
Funds for the Scholarship Awards Program will be generated from the ACC’s fundraiser, the 11th Annual Golf Outing and Scholarship Awards Dinner, taking place June 4 at Shenandoah Country Club in West Bloomfield. Information on sponsorship and participation opportunities can be found at the ACC’s website, www.myacc.org.
There also will be a silent auction fundraiser. This year’s event chairs are State Rep. Klint Kesto, (R-Walled Lake), and Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon. Last year, more than 200 participated in the golf outing.
“With a still struggling economy and increased tuition rates, students find it difficult to continue their education beyond high school,” added Fakhouri. “Through the ACC’s annual golf outing and Scholarship Awards Program, it is our goal to help ensure the academic success of these deserving students.”
