Lebanese barbecue food truck Babakabab opens a permanent location this summer at Chattahoochee Food Works in the northwest Atlanta neighborhood of Underwood Hills, according to a press release. Restaurateur and Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern serves as the food hall’s “culinary advisor”.

Babakabab, owned by Mark Haddad and Samer Bakri, offers build-your-own platters and boxes of grilled kebabs and falafel. People choose a portion size, then a base of either a Lebanese seasoning blend of basmati rice or romaine lettuce tossed in a pomegranate-mint olive oil dressing, and finally marinated chicken, beef kebabs, or grilled falafel.

Bakri tells Eater Atlanta the food stall at Chattachoochee Food Works will feature a similar menu to the food truck, along with a few special items and new dishes. This includes an off-menu box available at the food truck called “the Beirut” consisting of half rice and salad topped with chicken, beef, and falafel, and hot sauce

“We’re very excited to take this next step and bring our healthy, delicious Lebanese food to the people of Atlanta,” Bakri says in the press release. “It’s important to us that people can enjoy one of the best parts of our culture — our food!”

The 16,000-square-foot food hall is part of the The Works, an 80-acre overhaul of several warehouses along an industrial strip in northwest Atlanta. Last May, Zimmern said Chattahoochee Food Works would be a “landmark and inclusive project” filled with a combination of “celebrated chefs, cooks, up and comers, women, people of color, restaurateurs, and makers of all kinds.”

In addition to the food works, which is slated to open later this year, second locations of Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Scofflaw Brewing Co. are also planned for the complex. Nearly 500 residences, a boutique hotel, retail shops, and a 13-acre greenspace will be built in phases over the next few years.
