posted on: Jul 4, 2015

Only one day before Ramadan this year, Malek Jandali, pianist and composer Syrian, has published “The Moonlight”, his last symphonic works for piano and orchestra.

Based on one of the oldest songs of Islamic culture, “Tala Al Badru Alayna”, Jandali has regenerated a song that dates back more than 1400 years, with the aim of presenting the beauty and truth of the rich Islamic culture.

When asked about the inspiration behind his latest work, Malek Jandali said: “The stories of people and the loss of good memories and old mosques and churches in my country, Syria, have inspired me to compose this piece to share the true message of Islam lighting and social justice through a symphony of peace and harmony “. And again: “The message of beauty and hope during a time of violence and destruction as this needs a symphony of peace that has the true meaning of Islam.”

As an artist in transition, Jandali presents contemporary counterpoint at its best. “The Moonlight” was performed and recorded in Moscow with a symphony orchestra of 70 musicians, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Sergey Kondrashev.
