NAAMA Donates $10,000 To American Red Cross For Hurricane Sandy Relief
The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) and the NAAMA Foundation presented a check for $10,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts. The check was presented to Southeast Michigan Regional Executive La Forice Nealy by NAAMA Executive Director Renee Ahee and a member of the NAAMA National Board of Directors Dr. Wassim Younes. The funds will be used to support American Red Cross Superstorm Sandy continuing relief efforts.
Dr. Aziz Shaibani, president of NAAMA, said, “NAAMA recognizes that so much more equipment and medical supplies are needed in the areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Our New Jersey Chapter, under the leadership of Dr. Bassam Hasan, has donated $2,000. The rest of NAAMA’s membership from around the country wanted to provide some additional support to cover disaster relief, including first aid, which is still badly needed.”
NAAMA Foundation Chair Dr. Hareth Raddawi said, “In addition to our mission of medical education for our members, NAAMA has a humanitarian mission. That is why we established NAAMA’s Emergency Medical Relief Fund. We welcome donations to the EMRF to serve the people in need here in the U.S. and in our countries of origin in the Arab world.”
Founded in 1975, NAAMA is a non-profit professional, educational and humanitarian organization for Arab American physicians, dentists, pharmacists and other licensed healthcare professionals. NAAMA’s nearly 1,500 members across the United States in 27 chapters represent multiple medical specialties and Arab ethnicities.
