Peace Cycle-Announces "2008 Cycle for Peace" in Jordan/Palestine

posted on: Feb 26, 2008

The Peace Cycle 2008 is a unique campaign to mark the 60th anniversary of ‘al Nakba’ – the Palestinian ‘catastrophe’ when the ethnic cleansing of Palestine began in 1948.

The Peace Cycle in Palestine:

This is an amazing opportunity for cyclists to visit Palestine to show solidarity, cycle alongside Palestinian cyclists and learn about the realities of life under occupation.

When? 14th August to 31st August 2008

Where? Starting in Amman, Jordan, and cycling
through Arab villages in Israel, then
touring the occupied West Bank meeting
with groups, individuals and families, and
ending in Jerusalem

How? Cyclists must raise the costs of the trip
plus a donation towards humanitarian
charities in Palestine.

This year, the Peace Cycle will raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians. MAP is a UK charity providing support to the health and medical needs of vulnerable Palestinians living in Gaza, the West Bank and across the Middle East.

Cyclists from all over Europe will converge on Brussels for 2 days of media events and demonstrations to demand the European Parliament takes action to end the occupation and give peace a chance in the Middle East.

When? Sunday 7th – Tuesday 9th September 2008

Where? The European Parliament, Brussels

How? Arrive in Brussels by Sunday 7th
September 2008

TPC2008 will raise money to fund a MAP mobile health clinic for a year. These clinics are becoming ever more vital to Palestinians whose movement throughout the West Bank is increasingly difficult and restricted by the occupying forces.
