PechaKucha Night at the Arab American Museum
As part of their Global Thursdays series, the Arab American National Museum held their first-ever PechaKucha Night on Thursday. The evening brought together the best minds of the local design community to share their ideas.
“Devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network and show their work in public, PechaKucha Night has turned into a massive celebration of concise creativity, with events happening in cities around the world,” the museum’s website explains. “Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of ‘chit chat,’ it rests on a presentation format of 20 images in just five minutes. It’s a great experience for professional designers and aspiring creatives, as well as casual observers with an interest in what’s new.”
Presenters for the night included dancers, photographers, architects and artists. Each had five minutes to present their idea.
Proceeds from PechaKucha Night are going to help victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
