The actress was given the gong at the 17th annual Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Gala, returning the US two days after attending the premiere in Lebanon of her new film The Prophet – which is based on Gibran’s famous poetry works.
The Mexican-Lebanese star looked exquisite in a bold scarlet dress with three-quarter sleeves.

The stunning brunette swept blush across her cheeks, adding a smoky eye to complete her look.
Actress Salma voices one of the characters in the enchanting animated tribute, and produced the film before treading the red carpet on Monday in Beirut.
The actress – who called the film a ‘love letter to my heritage’ – also dipped her toe into the fountain beside Gibran’s commemorative statue in the country on Sunday.

The Prophet tells the story of a young girl who finds the voice she lost through her friendship with a poet imprisoned for his ideas.
Salma lends her voice to the character of Kamila, while Taken actor Liam Neeson will voice Mustafa and John Krasinski is Halim.
The 48-year-old has been overwhelmed by the support she’s received for bringing the masterpiece to the big screen and even shared a picture of the gifts that she had received while visiting Lebanon earlier this week.

On her Instagram page she wrote: ‘Thanks to all the people in Lebanon for sending me all these wonderful gifts.
‘Your reputation for generosity is well deserved,’ and followed it with the tags ‘Lebanon,’ ‘Family’ and ‘Gratitude’.
The Prophet – which is slated for US release in August 2015 – will serve as Salma’s fifth time in a producer capacity after films such as Frida and The Maldonado Miracle.

She also produced episodes of Ugly Betty, in which she also played a small part between 2006 and 2007.
The star recently proved just how dedicated she is to her charity work and her career when she took time out to visit an informal Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley.
She was there on behalf of Unicef to raise funds for Syrian refugees and see the children currently living in poor conditions and lacking food.
