Six Arrested in Jerusalem Over Beating of Arab-Israeli Druze Man

(The Times of Israel) “6 Jerusalem residents arrested for beating Druze IDF” Hasson said some 10 men assaulted him with broken glass bottles and other sharp objects. He added that the attackers had initially assaulted him verbally and spat on him after he conversed with a friend in Arabic. The attackers were allegedly Jewish and wore skullcaps. Following the attack, Hasson was rushed to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in the capital, where he underwent emergency medical treatment for various injuries. Hasson was released from the hospital on Friday. The victim, identified as Tommy Hasson, served in the Druze battalion and also served at the President’s Residence. He lived at a Druze village in the Galilee before moving to Jerusalem to study music. Hasson said 10 men attacked him with broken bottles and spat on him while he we taking with a friend in Arabic. (i24) “Six Jerusalem residents arrested in beating of Druze Man” Six Jerusalem residents have been arrested in the beating of Druze officer Tommy Hasson, 21, who sustained light injuries during an attack on Saturday and was later taken to hospital.According to Israeli media reports, Hasson, who had just completed his military service a few months ago, was attacked by a group of ten Jewish men wearing skullcaps after they heard him speaking Arabic near the city’s central bus station. Originally from the Druze town of Daliyat al-Karmel near the northern city of Haifa, Hasson had just recently moved to Jerusalem to study music. Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, who met Hasson during his IDF service, phoned the young man’s father in a show of support after the attack. “I told [Hasson’s] father that we are brothers, and we will reject from our midst any conduct that is so terrible,” Rivlin wrote in a Facebook post. “I talked to his father this morning and could not believe my ears,” he continued. “A man who is integrally linked to this country, attacked with such terrible violence.
