The U.S. Census Bureau plans to test a new classification for people from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for possible inclusion in the 2020 Census. This is a monumental achievement of a more than 20-year effort to address the exclusion of the MENA populations, which include Arab Americans, in federal data.
