posted on: Jan 16, 2016

Rapper Mohamad Tokko, AKA “Yung Tokes”, a Dearborn native now living in Phoenix, has produced a rap song and video that slaps presidential candidate Donald Trump and his  bigoted comments about banning Muslims from entering the U.S., the Arab American News reports.

“El Donald Trump” by Yung Tokes (video below) highlights the frustration many Arab and Muslim Americans endure as a result of a dramatic rise in discrimination against them, Hassan Khalifeh of the Arab American News writes:

Beginning his song with “Alsalamu alaykom”, an Arabic greeting for “peace be upon you,” Tokko calls Trump a fraud who wishes to scapegoat all Muslims and Arabs for terrorism.

“Try an’ slander, defame us / Terrorism ain’t in us / Feelin’ like we can’t win cuz / Propaganda we witness,” raps the proud Muslim in his song.

Yung Tokes also addressed harassment many Muslims face at airports.

“Like we did something wrong, ‘n they hate what we say /  We just tryin’ stay dry in a world full of rain, tho,” sings Tokko.
The hip-hop performer, born and raised in Dearborn, moved to Phoenix in 2007 to pursue a law degree, but followed his passion and switched to music, his hometown local paper says.

At his Facebbook page, Tokko comments on “El Donald Trump” by exlainng: “This [issue hit close to home for me and I [want to] help get the word out that NOT ALL MUSLIMS are terrorists.”
