As Inauguration Day approaches, many Muslims are feeling increasingly uneasy when thinking about what a Trump presidency could mean for them and their community. During Donald Trump’s campaign, he made it clear he intends to enact discriminatory legislation that restricts Muslim travel and would even require Muslims to register with the government.

As there is legal precedent for a Muslim registry under George W. Bush’s National Security Entry-Exit Registration, as well as minority internment in the United States, The Daily Beast asked Dean Obeidallah to set the record straight on what a minority registry has meant in the past, what it could mean now, and how you could possibly be affected.
