Rebuilding Gaza: The humanitarian and reconstruction needs.
For 51 days in the summer of 2014, Gaza experienced what is described as the worst destruction and displacement since the start of the Israeli occupation in 1967. One year later, there are few signs of rebuilding.
The 2014 war in Gaza destroyed or damaged much of the health, economic, agricultural and water/sanitation sectors. More than 450 schools, businesses, health clinics, mosques and other civilian structures were damaged or reduced to rubble. More than 42,000 acres of farmland were destroyed. Thousands of farmers, fishermen and factory workers lost their jobs.
One year later, there are few signs of rebuilding. What is needed?
