We’re thrilled to announce that Director/Writer/Actor Cherien Dabis will be joining us for the 18th annual AFF Opening Night and San Francisco premiere of May in the Summer! AJ+ Presenter/Producer Dena Takruri will be hosting the evening and leading a Q&A with Dabis after the screening. In addition to regular admission, our Opening Night VIP Package includes an invitation to the pre-screening Reception, 6:00pm, and the After Party at the Churchill.

Opening Night festivities are all about celebrating food, friends, and film. So, to make your travel plans smooth and easy, they’re offering exclusive parking for AFF attendees at Everett Middle School on 17th Street between Church and Sanchez. The gate will be managed from 5:30-9:30pm and closes at 11pm. Parking is $10 and all proceeds benefit the Parent Teacher Student Association. Additionally, they’ve teamed up with Uber this year to offer first time users a free ride during the Festival. Use promo code RIDEFREEAFF. Can’t wait to see you there!

There will be an opening ceremony and the film will begin at 7:30pm

May in the Summer follows sophisticated New Yorker May Brennan to her childhood home of Amman, Jordan for her wedding. Shortly after reuniting with her sisters and their long-since divorced parents, myriad familial and cultural conflicts lead May to question the big step she is about to take.
