1991 Legendary Play Harat Abu Awad Documentary Footage Now Available

Years ago, the legendary theatrical tour “Abu Awad’s Neighborhood” took place in five US cities, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Dearborn, and Chicago, in June 1991. Now, documentary footage allows the world to experience this play and meet the artists Nabil Mashini (Abu Awad), Rashida Dajani (Um Awad), Hassan Ibrahim (Marzooq), the producers of the video and the play, Samir Haddad, and Musa Hijazin on the oud and singing with the other actors on stage.

The play “Harat Abu Awad” deals with many global themes, such as, democracy, the rise of prices, women’s rights and liberties in a comedic way.
