2009 Tony Award Winner Goes to Gregory Jbara For 'Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical'

Gregory Jbara (Billy Elliot) Jbara was born in Westland, Michigan, the son of an advertising office manager[1] and an insurance claims adjuster. He is of Lebanese and Irish descent. After graduating from Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, Michigan, Jbara attended the University of Michigan. He majored in Communication Studies and took classes in Theatre and Musical Theatre. He left Michigan to attend Juilliard where he received his BFA in acting.

On Broadway, Mr. Jbara originated the roles of André Thibault in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Drama Desk Nomination), Squash Bernstein in Victor/Victoria and Sohovik in the 1994 revival of Damn Yankees!. In 1997, Mr. Jbara was the second actor to star as Billy Flynn in the Tony Award winning revival of Chicago. LA Theatre credits include: Little Fish, Precious Sons (Garland Award), …House That Jack Built and First Lady Suite at The Blank Theatre and Felix & Oscar at The Geffen.
