3rd Annual Arab American Comedy Show Seeks to Humanize the Arab American Experience
The 3rd Annual Arab American Comedy Show is preparing for two big nights of comedy! The show is set to take place Friday and Saturday evenings, August 14-15, 2009 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (Michael A. Guido Theater), 15801 Michigan Ave. Dearborn, Michigan, 48126.
The Arab American Comedy Show has become a unique institution in the Arab American community and aims to showcase a blend of both professional and amateur local talent in an effort to humanize the Arab experience through comedy. In addition to their stage work, the show continues to generate comedic buzz nationwide with parodies such as “MTV Cribs- Arab American Style” and “Nexted”, both smashing sensations. 2009 will be no different, with a unique and hilarious line-up of sketch comedy and short films, all written, produced, directed, and performed by Arab Americans.
“As a community oriented company, we are proud to be the presenters of a show which has been designed to build ethnic, cultural and economic bridges and demystify stereotypes surrounding the Arab-American persona” said Sonny Mandouh, Co-Producer of the show.
In a few short weeks, an ensemble of actors and actresses will take the stage to make a full house laugh and think about life in America from an Arab-American perspective. Sketches will range in themes from meeting future in-laws to wacky Arab super heroes.
“The show promises to be accessible to both Arabs and non-Arabs alike; our hope is to illustrate Arab American culture for all of its richness, beauty, and hilarity.” said Mike Mosallam, Producer & show’s Artistic Director.
The Arab American Comedy Show was founded in 2007 with the goal of building bridges between Arabs and non-Arabs, demystifying stereotypes, and to humanize the Arab experience through comedy.
Mizna Entertainment was started in 2007 by three metro-Detroit based best friends who wanted to combine their efforts to change and improve perception of Arabs and Arab-Americans. Mizna Entertainment is the producer of the Arab American Comedy Show.
