Arab America TV, AAI, and James Zogby invite you to be part of the studio audience for a taping of Jim’s weekly television program, Viewpoint, when his guest will be Ralph Nader.
The program will be taped on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 between 4 and 5 p.m., in the auditorium at NYU-DC’s Global Academic Center at 1307 L St. NW, in Washington, DC. Audience members are asked to arrive no later than 3:45 p.m. Time permitting, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.
Ralph Nader, honored by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential Americans of the 20th Century, is a longtime consumer advocate, author, lecturer, and former Green Party presidential candidate. He has devoted his life to giving people the tools to defend themselves against corporate negligence and government indifference. In 1965, he took on the auto industry with his book, Unsafe at Any Speed, a shocking expose of the disregard carmakers held for the safety of their customers.
Working with lawmakers, Nader was instrumental in creating the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Laws he helped draft include the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Meat and Poultry Inspection Rules, the Air and Water Pollution Control Laws and the Freedom of Information Act. He also formed numerous citizen groups, including the Center for Auto Safety, Public Citizen, the Pension Rights Center, and student public interest research groups (PIRGs).
In 2000, Nader organized a presidential campaign to challenge the two-party system. His goal was to build the foundation of a third political party and a robust progressive political movement. He lectures frequently on the growing “imperialism” of multinational corporations and how ordinary citizens can create a government responsive to their needs.

Viewpoint with James Zogby is an award-winning current affairs program featuring interviews with newsmakers and policymakers. Produced with support from New York University, Viewpoint is taped at NYU’s Global Academic Center in Washington, DC and airs on Arab America TV weekly.
