Al Azhar Opens Center for Non-Arabic Speakers in Indonesia

CAIRO, July 29 (MENA) – Al Azhar Undersecretary Saleh Abbas has announced the opening of a center for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in Indonesia, given the deep relations with the Indonesian people.
This comes within the framework of Al Azhar’s key role to propagate moderate Islam and counter destructive thought, Saleh said in a statement released on Monday.
He lauded the vital role played by the World Association for Al Azhar Graduates to foster the bonds connecting between Al Azhar and its scholars.
Saleh pointed out that specialists in teaching Arabic to foreigners will be working at the center, with a view to spreading the right and tolerant teachings of Islam.
For his part, Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim thanked Al Azhar grand imam for his efforts to educate Indonesian students about the sublime values of Islam.
