ANERA Honors Reach Out to Asia for Its Support of Youth Programs in Lebanon
ANERA (American Near East Refugee Aid) honored Reach Out to Asia at its Annual Dinner for ROTA’s generous support and partnership in youth programs and vocational training in Lebanon..
Commenting on the honor, Rania Abou Mosleh, ROTA’s International Programs Specialist, said, “ROTA and ANERA’s work with Palestinians and marginalized communities in Lebanon is built on a shared vision of a fair world, where all children and youth have access to the quality education, skills and training needed to live a decent life.”
ROTA’s work focuses on nurturing creativity, innovation, and critical thinking in young people to help them overcome the challenges of a rapidly changing world. In partnership with ROTA, ANERA implemented vocational training and remedial education in Nahr El Bared and Beddawi refugee camps. Sports and other youth-oriented activities for refugees fleeing the Syrian conflict also have helped ease tensions between refugees and their host communities.
“We are grateful for ROTA’s confidence and support. Through our partnership,ANERA has been able to open doors of opportunity for thousands of youth in Lebanon and give them the skills and support to become agents of peaceful change in their communities,” ANERA president Bill Corcoran.
Reach Out to Asia was recognized at ANERA’s 2014 Annual Dinner, which was attended by diplomats, representatives of corporations and the NGO community working in the Middle East as well as ANERA supporters and philanthropists. ANERA also honored the donors who helped initiate the Gaza Women’s Loan Fund and the Gaby Ajram Family Foundation for its generous support of ANERA’s work in Gaza and in Lebanon with refugees from Syria.
