Arab Idol and Palestinian Superstar Mohammed Assaf released his highly anticipated new song on Thursday, April 10th. Entitled “Ya Halali Ya Mali.” The song is a dabke dance rendition about good fortune and wealth (referring to Palestine). The video was shot at the Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon and reflects Assaf’s commitment to the Palestinian diaspora. This is the first in a series of songs which will comprise Assaf’s soon to be released CD.

“Today’s release reaffirms Assaf’s passion to revive traditional Arab music“ said Warren David, President of Arab America, “It is refreshing to hear Assaf’s message of tradition, unity, and determination reflected through his music.”

Ya Hal Arab! A Call for Unity, with Arab Idol and Palestinian Superstar Mohammed Assaf, will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2014, 5:00pm at the Waterford-Springfield Banquet Facility, 6715 Commerce Street, Springfield, Virginia.
