Join a daylong conference exploring the opportunities for and challenges of community-engaged research on the history of Arab Americans.

Event Details

Central Indiana Arab American community members, public historians and nationally-known humanities scholars will present a daylong conference exploring the opportunities for and challenges of community-engaged research on the history of Arab Americans. Participants will examine how Arab American public history—from museum exhibits, archives, popular writing and blog posts to historical tours, documentary film and public art—challenge or sometimes sustain the xenophobic, racial and religious bigotry faced by Arab Americans.

Scholars from institutions across the United States will present short talks and foster dialogues. The conference begins with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. Lunch will also be served.

To register for the conference and to see a list of scheduled guests and their presentations, visit the conference web page.

For additonal information, email professor Edward E. Curtis IV at ecurtis4@iu.edu.

This program received support from an INcommon Grant offered through Indiana Humanities and the Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate.
