Sowt al Ard (The Sound of the Earth) is an immersive performance that blends opera, dabke (Levantine dance), Arabic vocal and instrumental music, and ritual into a multi-sensory experience centered on Arab and SWANA stories. Created by 2025/2026 Incubator Artist Fairouz Foty in collaboration with Sonia Abdulbaki, Malikat al Dabke, and Quartertonez Music’s Fuad Foty and Alaadin Abdulbaki, the work invites audiences into a living landscape of movement and sound. Performers move through the space as dabke, Arabic instrumental music, opera, poetry, and vocal improvisation weave together stories of displacement, loss, and healing, honoring cultural memory through embodied storytelling.
Moving from mourning to celebration, Sowt al Ard (The Sound of the Earth) asks: What stories does the earth carry, and how do we listen?
