Join us for an in-person conversation about reporting from the region, the human cost of conflict and where Lebanon is headed.

Paul Hefel-James is a freelance journalist from Amesbury based in Beirut, Lebanon. He covers migration and refugee issues, the humanitarian sector and conflict in the Middle East region.

His work has appeared in DAWN’s Democracy in ExileNew InternationalistThe Progressive and The New Arab, and he has appeared on the International Risk Podcast.

The evening will feature a moderated discussion led by journalist and author James Sullivan, followed by an audience Q&A.
James is the author of five books specializing in popular culture and Americana and is a longtime contributor to The Boston Globe. He is a former staff writer and critic for the San Francisco Chronicle and a former editor at Rolling Stone.

Together, they will discuss the realities of reporting from the Middle East, the challenges facing freelance journalists, and the human stories behind conflict and displacement.
