Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Rally Tonight
Community members are urged to turn out tonight for a rally to support efforts to hold federal officials accountable for overzealous practices targeting immigrants. The rally will be held at 6 p.m. at the UAW Local,10550 Dix Highway. On hand will be Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois and Michigan Reps. Hansen Clarke and John Conyers.
Tonight’s rally comes after John Morton, director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), made an unprecedented visit to Dearborn on Friday, where he and regional staff members met at ACCESS headquarters with members of Michigan’s Alliance for Immigrant Rights Reform. ACCESS is a founding member of that group. At the meeting, Morton agreed to review a dozen cases involving allegations of abuse by ICE agents in Michigan.
