Memphis City Schools Seeks Arabic Language Speakers

Memphis City Schools, the nation’s 19th largest school district is looking for talented individuals to help grow its Arabic language program. Currently, we are seeking to fill 6 Arabic positions for the 2011-2012 school year with strong, qualified Arabic speakers. MCS offers applicants the opportunity to pursue teacher certification while teaching in the classroom. The qualifications are a completed Bachelor’s degree with a 2.5 GPA (if from a non-US institution, you will be required to submit a transcript evaluation), proof of United States citizenship or residency, and a degree in Arabic, 24 credit hours in Arabic, or an intermediate high or better rating on the Oral Proficiency Interview. Non-certified teachers will be required to enroll in a Teacher Education Program in order to continue teaching beyond the first year.
