Miss Earth Lebanon has been stripped of her title all because she posed for a photo with Miss Earth Israel.

The beautiful image shows Miss Earth Lebanon Salwa Akar standing next to Miss Earth Israel, Dana Zreik. Her arm was around Miss Zreik and they were both making a ‘peace’ sign with their hands.

After the photo was shared online, the organizers of Miss Earth Lebanon released a statement saying they “categorically rejected the relationship with Israel.” They also had withdrawn Miss Earth Lebanon’s title.

Miss Earth is an international beauty pageant that promotes environmental awareness. It is one of the big four along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss World.

The competition is currently underway in the Philippines, with 90 beautiful and talented candidates from all over the world taking part in the pageant.

Miss Akar recently confirmed that she has been stripped of the title but she vowed to continue. She wrote on her official Facebook page:

“I don’t need a ‘title’ to be myself. I, the Soul am peace.. and I will finish what I started with or without your support and love ..

“God is always beside me, he knows me more than anyone.. and he knows what’s in my heart . Om Shanti.”

Lebanon is the base for Islamist militants Hezbollah, which gets support from Israel’s arch enemy Iran. The Jewish country has fought many conflicts against Hezbollah.

Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah before the UN General Assembly, claiming that Hezbollah was converting missiles on behalf of Iran.

He said: “In Lebanon, Iran is directing Hezbollah to build secret sites to convert inaccurate projectiles into precision-guided missiles, missiles that can target deep inside Israel within an accuracy of 10 metres.”

Lebanese President Michel Aoun took to Twitter and said that Netanyahu’s accusations were ‘baseless,’ calling them a “new Israeli threat to Lebanese sovereignty.”
