Valley's Arab Americans Encouraged to Attend Vigil for Synagogue Shooting Victims

Youngstown, Ohio-A leader in the Valley’s Arab American community is encouraging fellow members to attend Thursday night’s planned interfaith vigil for victims of the shootings at the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue.

Mousa Hanna Kassis tells 21 News that the Arab American Community Center of Greater Youngstown condemns what he termed “the racist killing of our Jewish brethren in Pittsburgh, PA last Saturday”.

Eleven people were killed in Saturday’s shooting.

Recalling the killing of 29 people at a mosque in Palestine in 1994, a statement issued by the Community Center says, “Our heart goes out to the victims’ families, and we wish a speedy recovery for the injured.”

The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and the Board of Rabbis of Greater Youngstown are planning the hold the vigil on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Loganway.
