posted on: Jul 2, 2011

As the first Americans to grow up with no memory of life before Sept. 11, 2001, a group of middle school journalism students documented their lives this past school year for a project, The Living Textbook.

This afternoon the group od McCollough-Unis School seventh graders, mostly Arab American, invites the public to share in their stories during an exhibition at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn.

The exhibit, Heart of Arab America: A Middle School Perspective, features stories and photos from the students.

“The idea was to help the students learn about journalism and capture stories about their Arab American community,” organizers said.

The exhibit opens with a reception 12:30- 2 p.m. today in the museum’s lower level gallery. It runs through Aug. 14.
