NAACP President Ben Jealous to Deliver Keynote Remarks at US Elections Forum
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is honored to announce that Mr. Benjamin Jealous will deliver keynote remarks at this year’s ADC National Convention. Mr. Jealous currently serves as the President and CEO of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Mr. Jealous is scheduled to speak on Saturday, June 23 at 8:30am, at the US Elections Forum: Decision 2012. Mr. Jealous will discuss voting rights, voter disenfranchisement, and what how all minority groups can work together to ensure that our voices are heard. ADC has a longstanding relationship with the NAACP, whose longstanding history and prestige undoubtedly makes Mr. Jealous and his organization a valuable resource to minority communities during the upcoming election.
Mr. Jealous attended Columbia as an undergraduate and received his master’s degree from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar. In 1993, he began his career with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in Harlem. Before joining the NAACP as president, Mr. Jealous was an investigative reporter, the president of the Rosenberg Foundation and served as the founding director of Amnesty International’s US Human Rights Program. Mr. Jealous also authored the report: Threat and Humiliation – Racial Profiling, Domestic Security, and Human Rights in the United States. As the youngest president of the century old NAACP, Mr. Jealous had made great strides related to the economy and voter protection.
