NAAMA Welcomes its New Executive Director Renee Ahee
The National Arab American Medical Association has appointed Mrs. M. Renée Ahee as its new Executive Director for NAAMA’ National Office. Mrs. Ahee is a public relations, investor relations and marketing professional with more than 25 years in the corporate sector and private practice. She established Ahee Communications, Inc., in December 1999. Renée was named the 2009 Top Ten Michigan Business Woman-Diversity Champion by the National Association of Woman Business Owners Greater Detroit Chapter.
As a Public Relations prfessionl, Renee has attracted an impressive client list, providing public relations, special events planning, executive speech writing, investor relations and project management services to: ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services); National American Arab Nurses Association; U of M/U of M-Dearborn’s Detroit Arab American Study; American Arab Chamber of Commerce; Lebanese American Club of Michigan; Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Council of Asian Pacific Americans; and Dr. Madeleine Leininger Video Autobiography, among others.
While operating her business, she also undertook a 10-month assignment as program coordinator for the Center for Arab American Studies at University of Michigan-Dearborn, the only academic center focused on research and education on the experiences of Americans of Arab descent.
Renée is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, serving as accreditation instructor on the topic of “Law and Ethics in Public Relations” for nine years. She initiated and served as the Detroit Chapter’s first multicultural officer from 2001 through 2005, which resulted in a Chapter Award from the national organization, and held an 18-month term as Chapter president in 1997 and 1998. She is again co-chair of the Multicultural Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Council on Economic Education, Metro Solutions and Matrix Theatre Company Board of Directors and the Advisory Board of Directors of the Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce and co-founder of Arab American Women’s Business Council. She also served on the National Task Force for the Arab American National Museum.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and humanities from Marygrove College, Detroit, and a Master of Science degree in Finance in corporate finance with honors from Walsh College, Troy. She is a graduate of the leadership program of the Detroit Regional Chamber, Leadership Detroit XXVI.
