Palestine Event Will Observe 1948 Tragedy and Elaborate Impact of 'Arab Spring' on the Future Palestinian State
The Congress of Arab American Organizations (CAAO) announces its endorsement of an historic event: The 63rd anniversary of the 1948 creation of the State of Israel and the expulsion of the Palestinian people from their own land will be observed on Saturday, May 14, 2011 by the Palestine Cultural Office of Michigan and the Michigan Chapter of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network.
May 14 is the actual date in 1948 on which the United Nations created two lands on the land of Palestine but only one land emerged. The people of Palestine have been prisoners in their own land or refugees in other lands ever since as Israel has illegally stolen more land, extended its borders and committed grave human rights violations against the Palestinians to enable the development of its expansionist, racist empire.
But the ‘Arab Spring’ has completely changed the geopolitical situation in the region and indeed worldwide. The newly reconciled Palestinian leadership will announce the independent state of Palestine at the 2011 opening of the UN General Assembly in September. Arab dictators are being toppled to make way for the return of Palestine.
