Guidance and Mentoring Sets New Educational Foundation for Palestinians Apart

Buena Vista VA ¬– A new nonprofit foundation, Leonard Education Organization (LEO), was launched in August 2015 to secure and manage undergraduate scholarships to American colleges and universities for bright young Palestinians scholars. Coupled with a program to enhance personal development through guidance and academic mentoring, LEO will serve young women and men, from the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan.

Executive Director Deya’ Leonard Dresner said, “LEO will expand the work my colleagues and I have been doing for many years. Many donors and organizations in the Middle East are encouraging us to continue our work supporting the higher education of outstanding Palestinian youth who aspire to pursue their educations in the U.S.”

LEO’s partner organizations and established bridge programs see the organization as a perfect complement to their initiatives, and LEO’s enthusiastic university partners are offering very generous undergraduate scholarships.

LEO’s team of like-minded professionals believe in empowerment through higher education. Their understanding of the unique challenges Palestinian students must navigate sets LEO apart from other scholarship initiatives. “Our team is well positioned to offer the best opportunities and guidance to support a sustainable future for all our scholars,” Dresner commented.

LEO already has Palestinian students placed in American colleges and universities. We are
currently focused on fundraising and working with prospective students for college admission for the 2016 academic year.

LEO officially launched it’s website (leonardeducation.org) to share the vision of the organization and receive donations. Dresner added, “This is a humble beginning. We hope, with generous support, to grow and flourish and be able to offer many, many, more Palestinian youth the Gateway to Learning and Leading through education.”
