Snyder, Bernero to Discuss Business Development at American Arab Chamber Banquet

The American Arab Chamber of Commerce is bringing the Michigan gubernatorial candidates to its 18th Annual Building Economic Bridges Banquet on Oct. 22 at the Henry Hotel in Dearborn.

Democrat Virg Bernero and Republican Rick Snyder are the banquet’s keynote speakers. Both candidates say they want to create jobs and save the state’s economy: Snyder wants to eliminate the Michigan Business Tax while Bernero is proposing Business Tax Reform.

“National economies are integrating rapidly,” said Ahmad Chebbani, Chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to hearing how the candidates plan to encourage international commerce and facilitate trade.”

Arab-American businesses in the Detroit-Metro region alone account for more than $7.7 billion in earnings and contribute more than half a billion dollars in taxes. Arab-American businesses and consumers support more than 140,000 jobs.

“We recognize the importance of the 2010 election and the dilemmas our busienss community, especially small businesses, are facing in these tough economic times,” said Fay Beydoun, American Arab Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “The candidates are expected to discuss their plans to create jobs and save the Michigan economy.”
